2010 on a platter
Thursday, January 6, 2011
It's strange how this blog has been idle for so long and suddenly I find myself in the top10 most read LOL!

It only seems like awhile back that I delivered a 2009 report card and here I am again writing a review for 2010. So here goes.

After harping so much about the Nick version 2 project, it's not surprising to say that it fell completely flat on its face. After that semi-disastrous semester, it was hard to believe that the methods were actually working. Blame it on the weather, or just plain ole environment, Nick V2 would have been pummeled just as he made it through the door.

On the up-side, looking back at 2010 there are plenty of things to be thankful and delighted about. Although it was not the year I fall in love (to be elaborated later), it has been pretty good in other areas.

I took off to Bangalore, India for my final year consultancy project in December/January and spent the New Year day there. Over the past year, I have been involved with a Home that is helping with underprivileged children gain access to basic necessities and education. In total, I made two trips there and was my first time in the country. If anyone had asked me 5 years ago, India would not have been top of my travel list. But I guess it's the experience from the exchange programme that has changed my perspectives, for that I am thankful.

The last semester was somewhat a mad rush to the finish. Staying in school till 12 am was actually enjoyable because I knew it was perhaps my last opportunity to have such camaraderie with my mates. In the end, I was vindicated and got what I wanted, a second upper class. 4As and 1B+, not a bad way to end my university life :)

Trading wise, still suffering losses. I'm not exactly sure what i'm doing wrong but I'm just going to keep at it. Hopefully, it will work out in the end.

Jay visited Singapore in February and we had a blast. Wynn got married in February and I lost a friend to the wife. His customary is in Feb 2011 and I'm to help out. Perhaps the highlight of the year was my seoul trip after exams. It was something that I looked forward to immensely and exceeded my expectations.

I met old friends, and some new friends but one thing in common was we all had soju together. After returning, I really felt that I gained a deeper understanding of the Korean culture and it was definitely a much better trip than the one I had ten years ago (maybe because of jinro too).

As 2011 beckons, it is a completely new ballgame. To find a decent job is my first aim, something which has been frustrating thus far. As for love life, 2010 hasn't been kind but who knows, fingers crossed. Of course a job first would be good haha. Till next time

its a holi holi holiday~
Monday, July 12, 2010
Though it's been a long time since I've updated this blog, doesn't mean I've run out of things to talk about. In fact I rue the missed opportunities to pen my thoughts when everything is flying past at a hundred miles an hour.

Another thing would be awfully cliche to mention once again that yes, holidays are short (seemingly shorter than they appear to be) and it is ending. Last month of perhaps my last holiday (my goodness I just realised this while writing!) before I commence my final semester and go out with a bang. This time I promise I'll go down with guns blazing and quit whining about my grades.

fuzzy logic
Monday, May 24, 2010
watching chuck, HIMYM and t-ara after work is entertaining but does make you a little fuzzy on the inside.

I therefore conclude that the hope you have for a better tomorrow gives you the strength to overcome today.

The wonders of technology
Thursday, May 20, 2010
These days we take it for granted but I just want to say that I'm really grateful that we have such easy access to the Internet. Even though we're so many miles apart, it's really nice to be able to chat with your friends as if they were next door. Jay downloaded whatsapp on his ipod and we chatted for an hour and half the other day, with him telling me about the problems he was facing. Though I couldn't be there physically, it felt good to be able to help in a small way just by listening.

Yesterday, Gabriele sent me an immensely long email which was long overdue. He had been busy with work and couldn't update me with a lot of stuff which he finally crammed into that post. Glad he's doing well now.

On a side note, there's so much food in the office everyday, I think i've already put on 2kg gosh!

Office 2007
Tuesday, May 18, 2010
When office 2007 first came out, I was like WTF!? It had changed so much from its predecessor that it almost seemed alien. Using it was like having to learn it all over again.

And now, I feel happy to be able to use it at home. My current workplace is still using office 2002 and I find it cumbersome and unintuitive.

I know, this post sounds awfully frivolous, but if I called it a post concerning Office Automation Systems and Workplace Productivity, then it makes sense doesn't it?

Can't wait to see what office 2010 has in store.
