Sunday mornings seem to be a really popular time for families to do their grocery shopping. For those supermarkets that don't have an express line, the wait is so not worth it for people like me who only need to buy a few items.

I was just thinking these supermarkets should learn from the government and set up gantries at the checkouts instead of having cashiers. RFID all the grocery items and all we have to do is dump our stuff into the trolley, walk through the gantry, and pay using our cash cards or credit cards. Fully automated, no fuss, no waiting time, people just pay and go. Of course, make sure you top up your cash card or the supermarket will fine you for causing a "jam" in the waiting line.

ahh the wonders of technology

i think there is such a technology in japan... it just hasn't reached Singapore yet

awesome! The future is upon us! i think it'll really help smoothen the queues and also minimise theft. Although i think the costs in implementing such a system would be hefty and not to mention how to gather enough support from their suppliers to tag their inventory.

but then again, i think it'll be particularly useful for hypermarts where they have large variety and people usually buy things in bulk or make many purchases in one trip

noooo!! that's in our supermarkets next time! everyone just take what they want, but they can only take as much as their arms can carry haha
